The Young AFCEAN Career Grant 2010

The Young AFCEAN Advisory Council is awarding up to eight $250 Professional Development Grants

2009 Topic

“BRAC poses a number of challenges for all members of Team C4ISR and the Fort Monmouth Community.  With regard to retaining/transitioning invaluable technical and tacit knowledge, how do you see this best being accomplished with the least impact to the Warfighter?”

DUE DATE: Monday, 07 JUNE 2010 - Close of Business (5:00 pm EST)

ESSAY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Write a 1000 (min) - 1500 (max) word essay on the topic above.
  • It must be in MS Word, Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double-spaced, Full Justification, one-inch margins.
  • Include your name, daytime phone number, and e-mail address at the bottom of the essay.
  • Submit an electronic copy via e-mail to Lisa Pandolf at: lisa.pandolf@comcast.net no later than Monday, 08 JUNE 2009 - Close of Business (5:00 pm EST). (You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours.  If not, please contact Lisa via email or telephone. 732-427-3662)
  • Only one essay may be submitted per person.

ESSAY CRITERIA:
Essays will be judged on these basic questions.

  • Did the essay meet the written requirements, were directions followed?
  • Originality of thought and composition: (Was the essay intriguing and how well was the essay composed?)
  • Did the essay address the question asked?

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • This career grant is open to REGISTERED and ACTIVE Young AFCEANs (40 years old or younger) (Government, Industry, Military) employed within and/or supporting the Fort Monmouth C4ISR community.
  • Individuals eligible for other AFCEA Student Scholarships are not eligible for this grant.

* If you have not applied for membership (You must be 40 yrs old or younger to qualify being a Young AFCEAN) as of yet, please do so immediately.  Your name must appear on the official AFCEA Roster by June 4th in order to be eligible for this grant. Please notify Lisa Pandolf by e-mail when you sign up.  It takes about 3-4 weeks before your application gets processed, so please register early.

Grant recipients will be notified within one week of the entry date and will be presented their award on xx JUNE 2010 at the AFCEA Scholarship Banquet.
